THE FEET IN THE SWAMP

THE FEET IN THE SWAMP A long time ago there was a kingdom very poor. The sovereigns had squandered every good state and had also drained the savings of citizens, imposing taxes of all kinds fees. And all the inhabitants had fallen into misery and despair. There was more food and houses, little by little, they were destroying. The animals were served to feed the population, but now there was nothing left. The pots were empty ... the pots were empty… ... and all the people were no longer even have the strength to work. It also seemed that the sun and the sky were darkened by the desolation and poverty. So all citizens decided to exile the rulers responsible for the famine and despair in that realm. Just rulers left, heads of families that had once been rich, wanted to come to power to govern, because in their hunger for power was equal to the hunger for food. But the situation was so bad that for once, the citizens' assembly decided to put under the command of that kingdom a wise old man, who for years lived alone in a cave. It was the only one who was not a candidate for the command. The only one who had not shown up for election ... the only one who did not want the power. In a flash of reason, people realized that the old hermit was the only one who could save the kingdom from total destruction. So the old hermit was appointed king. The crown he wore was of brass, since their former ruler had sold the gold to buy the beautiful white horses. The next day, at dawn, the old hermit came out of the castle fell into ruin, and the hoe in the neck, came in closer and began to dig. The councilors and dignitaries just saw him, they laid hands on his head! The king that hoe the ground! Incredible! Unheard of! Shameful! The wise old man, stopping for a moment to dig, said, "Instead of standing there with our hands, why not help me to plow this field? Winter is near, and before the rains, we have to plant the wheat ... if we do not all play our part, we will all die of hunger. " So advisers, dignitaries, nobles and politicians, all with hoes in hand, began to prepare fields for planting. The king, old and tired, drove in all that hard work, and even though these people had never dug in their life, followed the example of the sovereign. If he hoed, the other had to do it. After planting, the old hermit went to the river and began to fish ... so even the nobles and dignitaries. Citizens, mouth open, they saw members of the former wealthy families of the kingdom, fish, clean and dry the fish. They then asked the king explanation ... and the hermit replied: "If we all do our part, we will all die of hunger." So also they helped citizens in fishing, and they were to bring the fish in the neighboring kingdom in order to sell. With the money raised, the king bought so much cotton and gave it to all the families of the kingdom so that they spun and thus all citizens, and not noble, began work. The children of each family, seeing his father and mother were spinning cotton, which makes colorful cloths, asked them why ... and every parent said to his son: "If we all do our part, we will all die of hunger" So each guy helped make clothes of all kinds, decorating them with the magnificent imagination of youth. The clothes were sold, and little by little, the kingdom went out by poverty and hunger. All worked ... all contributed to the welfare of all ... hotels, renewed, again hosted tourists ... shops again began to sell and the money circulated freely. Every person of that kingdom was devoted to the old hermit, and everybody loved and respected. In his life as a king he did not want money for himself but for the welfare of the population of the kingdom that he had to save. A few years later, the old hermit approached the end, but the wise King was not afraid. Death was not a demon but a merciful angel. All citizens watched over his last hours, in and out of the castle. The last words of the king were to the population ... she urged them to learn from what they had faced. His last words were: "Hunger and poverty are the result of the greed of man. The thirst for money and power is a deep swamp ... and it's easy to walk into ... out it is impossible. "
